Who We Are
Nehemiah Pastor’s Association was formed out of immigrant community-based needs. The association is comprised of more than 200 pastors representing about 80 local churches spread over 42 cities in the US. All the pastors, heads of those local churches and their members are mostly from the war-torn Democratic Republic of the Congo.
They have survived the most atrocious events that took place in the Great Lakes Region of Central Africa prior to their resettlement in the US and for the last decade.
The war that has devasted the DRC since 1996 has resulted in loss of more than 6 million people and caused millions of others to be internally and externally displaced. They survivors have experienced critical safety and health conditions and the recovery process will take long time.
The majority of the externally displaced people from DRC have moved to neighboring countries including but not limited to: Rwanda, Burundi, Uganda, Tanzania and Kenya. There are also thousands of other who have been resettled in numerous countries in Europe, in Australia and here in the United States. These who have resettled in the United States have and continue to face numerous challenges that are related to acclimation in the new culture and complex system which have added more social and economic pressure on top of their post war traumatic challenges.
It is with heart of compassion and coupled with the knowledge of the different challenges that immigrant community members have experienced since they settled here in the US that Nehemiah Pastors Association was born.
The purpose in mind was to responding to critical needs created by the devastating events that have displaced thousands of people from DR Congo and who have moved here in the United States.
Based on the God’s calling upon members of the association and considering the number of their church members who have moved from the DR Congo to USA and in relationship with the responsibility and obligation to take care of the souls of all their members, as the most important task, NPA has been working very hard since 2016.
Aware of the challenges that come with the acclimation to the new and complex environment and with the hope of keeping sound doctrine such as the teaching of the word of God. Knowing that the isolation within the community members can lead to serious and detrimental safe and health issues, Nehemiah Pastors’ association was created.
Nehemiah Pastor’s Association has graciously appreciated the heartfelt and deep compassion and hospitality of the American Community throughout the US where its members have settled. The American people and sister churches have supported so many members with church locations to start new fellowship center and churches. We have witnessed the true companionship which is rooted in God’s love and our words cannot relate the expression of our most thoughtful appreciation and gratitude.
